Can anyone recommend a 3-5 day course for a novice / enthusiastic beginner cook?

Looking for something that teaches the basics, English / French style that would get me a "banker" starter, main and dessert with a "wow" flavour and presentation, and some useful skills/tips. Residential type course in the UK.

Anyone any actual recommendations (as opposed to "here let me Google that for you)?

Someone I know has had great success with courses from Ashburton Cookery School. I haven't been but have had the opportunity to read the training manual they provide. I found it incredibly comprehensive, full of recipes and reminders of the skills learned. Something I really liked about the school was the fact that they offer courses that build upon each other, no matter what your existing skill level is.
