I'm currently paying £7oo a year for a warranty which is set up by my local TVR main dealer. If things go wrong then it makes sorting things out much easier. But £700 is a lot if nothing goes wrong. Does anybody know of any other options of getting an effective warranty on a Tuscan. Also are there any options on servicing other than main dealer. It always cost £500+
Any thoughts guys....

Hi Stu

I have to make a decision on Tuscan warranty when mine runs out in Jan and was looking through the posts. Warranty works certainly seems to be incredible value and good coverage - can I just ask if you have ever needed to claim and if so how did it go?

Thanks in advance.

£700 will seem even more when they don't pay your valid claims!!

I'm with Warranty Works, too (think I started that trend off), and have had "experience" claiming with them now. So far...

Dash pod display fscked: no payout - spent so long arsing about over it that TVR couldn't be bothered dealing with them
Engine rebuild: no payout - claimed it was wear and tear x2
Clutch failure: agreed payout - still sorting the paperwork out with them, though, so have yet to see a cheque

Over three years, it'll no doubt pay out more than the £700 it cost. "Peace of mind from a comprehensive warranty"? Nope.

With these warranty's it seems to be you get what you pay for.

Which are the good ones which cover things like speedo and engines and dont fob you off with :-

Thanks for that JS. Sorry to hear you've had so many headaches.

Back to the drawing board then. My dealership are recommending Car Plan/Cover (sorry I can't remember if it's Plan or Cover) they seem to be paying up on claims but apparently a good policy is going to cost £1200 pa. I was rather hoping to find something a bit cheaper than that.

(Don't know whether I disciplined enough to save £100 per month!)

Ah, the problems are behind me. Car is currently very happy.

You've got to ask the question then of whether you expect to have more than £1200 of claims per year on the car. And don't for a second think that paying a few hundred quid more will make them want to pay out £x thousand on an engine rebuild. ANY warranty that doesn't specifically cover wear & tear will weasel out of paying for worn valve guides, because they are just that - worn. Finger followers may be a different story.

Something to note as well is that they're never liable for inherent defects. So getting an S6 engine covered full stop won't be the easiest thing come claim time...
