What he said.

Lovely looking place in the centre, although grey, grim and communist looking on the outskirts.

Loads of little gift shops to look around and plenty of nice bars/restaurants.

Book a table at Restoran Korsaar. Trust me.

February should give you the chance to see Tallinn without the huge volume of tourists. It will probably be VERY cold so make sure you are prepared. If you head up to the high point of the old town at night, there is a small bar set in the ramparts of the city wall. They have tables outside so probably only worth doing on a still night as it would be painfully cold otherwise.

There is a very Russian feel to Tallinn, so if you haven't been to Russia this is quite an experience. You really don't feel that you are in Europe. I have only visited out of season and would probably only do the same again. I have only visited for work, but would like to return as a tourist to spend more time there.

Perhaps worth adding that there can be quite a few stag party groups there which is another good reason for visiting out of season. I haven't seen them personally but a friend who went in August had quiet a different experience of the city.

went last year in Feb with a few of the chaps and loved it. I would definitely go there as a couple too. As long as you make sure you are staying in the Old Town (which is very picturesque) you will love it. Fairly guaranteed snow, it makes it even more beautiful. We stayed in The Merchants House Hotel which was very good. Lots of bars/restaurants and hotels in the Old Town. Warm clothing a must otherwise you won't enjoy it so much..

felt very safe, but then we were in a group of blokes so most places feel safe..

..would definitely go again
