2012 GTR - anyone getting one?
Discussion
Is there anyone here seriously considering this car.
all the improvements on engine, gerabox etc have been made and I expect it better than the 2009 model which I had the pleasure of driving but found the gearbox a little underwhelming.
Subjectively, it seems all the improvements have been made to delievr a great car even at the elevated price tag.

I've been considering these if I change my Vanquish ... Just for the sheer speed and capability of the thing, rather than its looks etc ... Which aren't bad but isn't as pleasing on the eye as an Aston IMHO. Also have Bentley GT SS, Fezza 612, Murcielago & DBS on my list too, but will be interested to hear what others say about the GTR.
was considering getting a 2011 gtr after driving my mates car [2010 model]what a amazing car. so i thought i would ask you guys what you think that with the 2012 model coming out the current 2011 cars will lose much money or will they hold there money due to not many been available for sale at the moment and the new 2012 has had a price increase which i think will push the price to £75k?
are there any discounts to be had from dealers?
there is one in daytona blue that seems good value at £64k brand new that i have offered £60k but they dont seem to want to move anymore but has been for sale for nearly 5months,i would have liked black or white as my first choice.
also what are the better seats the premium seats or the recaros?
thanks in advance for any help.

Hmm - I bought my '09 model in October. The rumour mill is that Nissan will be offering the extended warranty at £2600pa which seems horribly steep to me. Yes, the prime components are expensive to replace but I've heard *so* few stories of disaster I'd like to think Nissan would be more confident in their product. For the first time I'd seriously consider saying sod the warranty...
If that was the case then yes, the Litchfield tweaks to get he smoother gearbox running and the launch control would be interesting. The 09' gearbox software can cause slightly embarassing delays around town - nothing serious just a second or two whilst it makes its mind up. It'll be interesting to see how the depreciation hits the '11 model, given that the price hike from the '09 was so steep.
Will i be buying an '12 model - not a chance. Never buy new cars - I always wait until at least the 1 year hit on depreciation has passed. If money were no object, then yes, of course I would.

You should have a look at this

The biggest changes were in the 2011 car which Iain Litchfield takes apart and compares to a 2009/10 car. porbably the most important thing is that the gearbox is actually identical through all years - the improved smoothness comes purely through different software (despite what Clarkson said recently). New software is currently available as an upgrade to older cars for £250+vat. I've had it installed for 2 months - and it's much much better than the original
There's a slightly bigger turbo that's maybe good for an extra 50 BHP. There have been 2 ways to create an easy extra 50 BHP for a while now - either the cobb accessport or ecutek - both around £800
So you can have arguably the two biggest differences between the earlier cars and the later ones for about a grand....and if you want to uprate the dampers it's about another 4-5k.................

My wallet started to shiver with fear when I heard about the 2012 trackpack special. But it breathed a sigh of relief when the actual modlist was released.
My 11 looks soooo last year without the brake ducts. Luckily I can't hear people shouting 'hurry up in your dinosaur' because the Bose is doing all the talking.

A good low mileage (5k miles) MY10 is available for £45k (up to £50k). Similar low milage MY11's are around at low £60k's. There are still a few new MY11's around and some dealers are prepared to discount.
Given the performance nature of the GTR I've decided to buy a discounted new MY11 for a couple of grand more than a low mileage MY11 because I will know it hasn't been thrashed and their isn't a big bill for consumables (brakes/tyres) looming which could easily eat in to the difference. Also, for £499 I've bought the 3-year service package which means other than consumables there will be little additional to spend until the MOT is due.
I didn't think the price hike versus the spec changes for the MY12 was worth the extra when comparing a full price MY12 with a discounted MY11.
Litchfields are quoting 600BHP for their Stage 2 upgrade on a MY11. So when I've got used to the standard car, for around £2k more it can be easily upgraded to something really special

After seeing Mizuno San's presentation at Silverstone late last year & playing on track in the MY11, i took the decision to place an order for a MY12 & that's coming from a Stage 3 MY10 GT-R (circa 630bhp). The MY12 is more than purely software updates as explained by the creator himself.
You can tune a MY09/10/11 to perform close to par with a MY12, however given the MY12 can crack 0-60 in 2.7 seconds stock, you'd need to spend alot of money on upgrades for an older one to match that. Further improvements to the aerodynamics, cooling & handling make the MY12 quite a weapon.
All that aside, i chose to sell my GT-R & have opted for motoring of the wafty variety for the time being, however my order for a MY12 is still in place so i'll decide what to do in the Spring when specs need confirming.
