In the next year to two I will be looking to replace my mx5, I love it to bits but its not quite quick enough and getting a snowboard in the passenger seat every week is a bit of a pain.

I know what my frontrunner is replacement wise, but want to see what the learned Jap car community suggests.

My preferences would be RWD (got the bug), quick, either a 2 door coupe with 4 seats or a saloon. Ideally a decent example for £4k or less, high mileage wouldnt really put me off as I only do 5k a year tops.

Being completely biased, I would also recomend the MR2 (mk2).

I know it is only a 2 seater, but a snowboard might fit in the boot.

If not, go for the T Bar and stick it out of the roof.

You've got no hope of getting a snowboard in the boot of a Mk2 MR2.

Obvious answer seems to be an MR2 Turbo. Two seats, blisteringly quick, great fun and very tough. And the interior is surprisngly spacious too, I'd have thought that a snowboard would easily fit in the passenger seat. I've transported bass guitar hardcases in the passenger seat with loads of room to spare.

If you're willing to sacrifice a some speed and fun a 200sx may also be a good buy.

Yet we continue to recommend the equally impractical MR2

Doesn't matter really, OP has not posted back in the thread, nor posted anywhere else on PH since posting the thread. I doubt he has even read these replies.
