Just caught the end of a sky programme on motor racing. There's a new expanding formula where they race on circuits around GB. The racers are using ex-F1 cars, Indy carts or whatever you fancy. There's no technical regs either! Your allowed to use any fuel - petrol, alchol etc, plus any engine you like, of any size. The result is loads of overtaking, and cheap ticket prices to watch the action trackside. All the good bits of F1 without the corruption, just good old fun. Unfortunately I didn't catch the name of this series. Anyone else see it?.......

I saw the F3 from Knockhill on the box yeterday as well and that looked like pretty good racing, maybe there is hope yet

Still prefer hillclimbing to most roundie-roundies, historics (including Boss) excepted.

Friendlier, better burgers, a decent pint and a nice day in the country to boot.

My only experience of hill climbs is the uphill on the previous playstation - GT2. The Suzuki Escuardo was based on a real Vitara. Apparently is squeezed 1000bhp from a 2.5v6! I caught that Clarkson programme the other week too on hill racing. Looks a good laugh.

Trouble is it depends on the ongoing existence of F1 to provide the cars.

Most come from the Indy carts racing though

The Escudo actually had 2 x 2.5 V6 engines!! One in the front and the other midmounted.

So that's 500bhp each then. I thought 1k from 2.5 l sounded a tad stressed.

Theres a early nineties F1 Eurobrun in the back of MotorSport for 60,000 euros. i think thats about 48k, anyway its a complete car with spares and things.
ok, so the Eurobrun was not the best car but still its an ex F1 car with a DFV in the back which would provide some
I have found old F3 cars knocking around for 5k and some sports 2000 cars around 10k. Also, race cars appear to be much cheaper in the USA, i often visit www.racecarsdirect.com and have a browse through the ads. At least half the cars are American but they are very cheap and should be legal for some championships over here. I cant wait till I'm on a decent wage and I can afford a proper toy!

Skylines can manage about 1200 PS from 2.7l (they're usually bored out from 2.6 to 2.7 when they go over about 600 PS IIRC) Again, not sure how long they last

...not long! Thay can only handle that power as the block is cast iron. The new alloy blocks can't take that much.
