Wednesday treat...Morrisons steak
Discussion
This time of year I usually get quite a few presents from patients, labs and suppliers etc. Most fall into the category of bottles of spirits or perfectly drinkable wine. But this year I have also been sent a rather nice and quite expensive (for me) Bordeaux.
Rather than save it for Christmas, the GF and I selfishly decided to have it tonight. For me the perfect partner for good wine is a nice steak, but since all the butchers shops were closed when I left work, I had to go to the supermarket. We have always had quite good steak from the local Morrisons so I decided to go there and see what was on offer. I picked up 2 thick cut ribeye steaks and I must say they were excellent. 1lb of lovely, juicy, tender, flavoursome meat, as good as any I have tasted and I have eaten in some very good steak restaurants.
Give it a go.

The thing with buying steak at a supermarket is to avoid the pre-packed stuff, which is tainted by the controlled atmosphere packaging.
Steak from the butcher's counter, or steak cut and packed in store (you know it has been done in store as it'll be in a polystyrene tray and cling-wrapped) is generally every bit as good, and in many cases better, than your local butcher will supply.
(Far too many local butchers get the meat the supermarkets have rejected)
