Need to stay overnight before an early morning flight next week from Heathrow (T3)

Havent been to Heathrow for a while so no local knowledge at all.

I wont have the car so I need somewhere that is an easy walk to T3. Is this imposssible? Will I need to take a taxi do you think?

Or do any of the hotels offer a transfer service of any sort? I have no car of course so wouldnt be using any sort of parking service/deal.

The wife and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza heathrow a couple of months ago.
The outside isn't much to write home about but the inside was good. I think it was about £9 each for a return shuttle bus to heathrow which took about 10-15 mins. We ended up taking a taxi back to the hotel to collect the car on a return trip as we didn't want to wait for a suttle bus and it cost £22

We've stayed at the Marriott twice - mainly for convenience (good spot on the Bath Road literally just outside the airport - but still need a shuttle-bus in there) and price. But it's been plenty good enough for an overnight.

All hotels are served by the Heathrow Hoppa bus. This is under a fiver each way (can't remember the amount off the top of my head). It's an OK service but if you have more than 1 of you I find a taxi to not be much more.

I've stayed at:

Marriott Slough / Windsor (crap)
Renaissance Bath Road (usual choice due to being a Marriott points we). Bit dated but comfortable.
Park Inn A380 roundabout (not too bad, typical Park inn really. Prefer Ren).
Crowne Plaza (it's ok)
Sheraton Skyline (it's ok. Nothing to write home about).
Premier Inn Bath Road (had cases of card fraud from here. It's ok if you want cheapish and cheerfulish though).
Holiday Inn M4 Junction 4 (OKish. Really nothing special).

I'd go for the Ren / Crowne Plaza / Park Inn / Sheraton Skyline / Premier Inn out of these (in order of favourites). If you book a 'mystery' hotel through parking4less and the description includes a library it's probably the Crowne Plaza, if swimming pool it's the Sheraton Skyline. Had very cheap rates at both in the past (40 quid a night).

You're not allowed to walk the central terminal area.

However, travel is free on tfl buses in the immmediate vicinity of Heathrow - and that includes the routes running between the Bath Road hotels and the central terminal area.
The area shaded green on this map shows where the buses are free

Ahh OK, so you aren't allowed to walk through the underpass? I don't have much luggage so was hoping to avoid a taxi. Yes I am a tight sod.

Thanks for the tfl link, very handy. Just searching for a room along bath road. Ta!
