I travel roughly 2 times a week from Edinburgh up into the Kingdom when i am onshore and go through the M90 average cameras with cruise control set at 40mph. I realise there will be some leeway set into the cameras but am amazed at the amount of people that overtake me (not crawling past at +1 to 5mph) but at 10mph and then some. Now do they know something I don't or should a definition of "average" be posted on repeater signs. The trucks seem to be the worst and they are not "hiding" their reg plate behind one another as they reach another camera.

I'm not going to risk it to find out! What amuses me is that if you do travel through these speed cameras at say 10 mph above the limit you will only arrive a few seconds earlier than if you abide by the limit.

I have noticed this aswell. I'm on that road every Friday evening and Sunday. I stick to 40 but the amount of people who have past me at some speed are doing well above that, so have questioned this too. Saying that I secretly dont mind it, saves on the petrol! rolleyes

Been driving through the A77 cameras at speed since they were installed and never once had a letter, and I'm not the only one. They aren't even powered up. I suspect they don't even have the cabling either?

The only active ones are the first two at the north end start and the two approaching Girvan (bad crash there which was the reason for them being installed). These cameras cost around £80k per year to maintain, hence the reason for them not being used.

Remember, the govt took the fine revenue off the councils and replaced it with a road safety grant, inspiring the councils to look towards their police forces instead..
