Couldn't make out what kind of plane - too far away

i work right under the flight line no more than 2 miles from the runway end. have neither seen nor heard fast jets for while
did see the Piaggio P180 on wednesday(?)though. unusual looks and most odd noise!
also saw 2 multi-engine high fliers in VERY close proximity, heading west this lunchtime. almost line abreast, rear was 4 engine, couldn't tell you how many the front had due to the rear in it's trails. air to air refuelling?
