House Insurance - Bike Cover
Discussion
Hi
Any advice on who is good for general house and contents insurance to include a good level of bike cover.
We are getting silly quotes which seemed to be ramped up du to the bikes I want covered. As soon as we start listing the value of individual bikes the premium goes up. Is there anyone out there that will cover bikes on a like for like basis for a sensible price.
Any suggestions welcome.

I'm also interested to hear what other people have done for this as i've just bought a new bike. Although i'm also looking at joining British Cycling and they give members discount on insurance which i'm going to look into further...

Both bikes insured on the house policy, insurance at home and out and about. Cost £80 bikes £2000 giant full sus and £1000 gr hard tail.
I'm getting ripped off!!!Home insurance is costing me £70 a month, which doesn't cover bikes more than £500. They wouldn't cover my bike as it was too expensive. I went with Cycleguard and it's costing me £35 PER MONTH, which covers me for racing/club rides etc. It's like insuring a cheap car

Shall I look elsewhere?
the britishcycling deal isnt that good, from memory is 10% off a selected supplier i found a few deals which were cheaper. even if you get the insurance from M&S or someone, its worth joining BC anyway, the public liability insurance is worth having and i'd rather make a legal/insurance claim using a company with substantial cycling experience rather than A.N.Other...

Marks and Spencers, 4k single item limit, no extra charge for bikes. £29 per month for 75k cover I think. Also covers you out and about on the premium policy.
It was too good to last

We've been with M&S for years purely for their £4k single item cover - fingers crossed we'll get a decent renewal quote when the time comes as I've got no idea who we'll find that does the equivalent. We've even got ours covered away from homw (inc Europe) via our M&S home insurance.
My £1,500 bike costs £80 to insure including up to £500,000 public liability cover in case I hit someone/something. I got it through these guys...
