Quiet Turbo Trainer?
Discussion
i know a few people use the tack satori and a mat underneath it and have said its quiet. this one has good customer reviews often referencing the noise, or lack of. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/elite-crono-fluid-elastoge...
you could pay a lot more and get a propergucci fluid one too

I have just bought the Elite fluid above, they also had a 15% discount last weekend so it worked out £119 posted. I've got the admit the thing is very very quiet, which reading the reviews is why I chose it.
I find the loudest noise comes from the bike itself. That said it's still ok to have a chat at a normal level over it.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Seems a fluid one is what I'm after. Now just to see which one would suit my needs. The fluid ones seem to be non-adjustable, using only bike gear selection (rear wheel speed) to increase resistance.
I'll need to make sure I get one that allows for simulation of tough, slow cadence climbing - as that is what I want to work on this winter.
giarc - what are your experiences like? Can you ride out the saddle as if up a nasty steep climb?

I've recently got a TacX Bushido - not on a mat yet but it's reasonably quiet... all depends on what you call quiet - can speak at normal volumes with someone in the same room whilst using it, they can still hear it working though and there's a bit of vibration through the floor when cranked up. I'm expecting a mat to help work against that though.

The turbo is up to it without a problem! It's does create a bit of wobble but I'm sure that's more my sloppy style than the stand itself. Seems a fluid one is what I'm after. Obviously if you raise the front wheel higher it improves the feel of a climb'
