S1 - remote range tending to zero

1998 S1, Cobra 6422 setup I think, has got so as I have to hold the remote fob over the bonnet on the passenger side to get the alarm to set/unset.

Tried both remotes + changed batteries in them, no difference. Where next to look please?

I'd be trying a new battery from another supplier.

If you have changed the batteries you may need to resync with the alarm / immobiliser before they will work.
