Experience required
Discussion
I'm trying to get into accounts; I'm studying AAT at the moment but my company won't put me into accounts due to not having any positions. Most jobs out there want you to have experience, but how are you supposed to get the experience if these companies won't employ you without any?
Does anyone have any advice or suggestions at all?
Thanks.

I having the same; trying to break into Health and Safety.
I've got my Nebosh and plenty of general experience, but even entry level jobs are asking for full time, relevant HS experience..
I seem to be having the issue that even the positions with study support want at least a years experience. I think companies need to start giving people like us a chance. I mean, they can pay less for someone with no experience and if they get someone keen and they give them proper training, they'll potentially do a better job anyway. What do you think?

The thing is they can pay less and get the bloke who was made redundant from a role one or two steps higher than the role they are recruiting for, why employ a new starter when a guy with a year or two under their belts will do the same job for the same money?
I think this is certainly the case for many positions.
