Superstrat help

To all you guitarists out there,
I need help in sourcing the perfect superstrat for a pal of mine. Some time ago he borrowed my Peavey V Type and he fell in love with it. Unfortunately these little beasts are no longer available to buy, and rarely pop up second hand. So i thought i would convert him to the Jackson family and borrowed him my DK2M, which he does like but i get the feeling not as much as the Peavey. Apart from the styling and maple neck, i reckon the main difference between the two is the nut width - thinner on the Peavey - so i reckon my pal prefers a slimmer, more curved fretboard on his superstrats. Also, the Peavey is set neck.
I am aware of two options remaining - Ibanez and Ltd ESP. Not having owned either myself, is anyone familiar with these (or any other) superstrat ranges, and are there some particular models which will fit my mate's requirements? Was also thinking perhaps a Charvel So Cal, but do not know of any shops near me that have them in stock to try out.

I've heard good things about Agile Guitars who do some superstrats.
Also, Charvel or an Ibanez RG.

Fender Stratocaster =/= "Superstrat".Ibanez have pretty thin, flat necks. Actually, they have some of the thinnest, flattest necks you will find on a production guitar. ESP LTD generally have narrower nuts, narrower necks and a more rounded, C profile compared to the flat D of Ibanez.
FWIW though, I think Ibanez have better new guitars for under £500 (and above £500, if we are going there), and you can get a lot of used Ibanez for £500.
