Blood pressure monitors and pregnancy

My fiancée is 35 wks pregnant and has high blood pressure. We bought a monitor to keep an eye on it at home but were told by her midwife that it is no use as it needs to be calibrated for use during pregnancy.
I can't see how this is possible as surely it's still accurate whether pregnant or not?
Any help would be much appreciated as we are getting conflicting stories about pre-clampsia from all sorts of different medical staff at our hospital.

Midwife talking bks. Monitor will work reasonably well, but automated BP machines are not brilliantly accurate.

Blood pressure varies throughout the day/night, standing/sitting, rest/exertion. How are you monitoring it? A cheap wrist measuring cuff or Stethoscope and sphyg. If you are concerned see your GP.

We are using an Omron digital BP monitor. She is getting checked everyday at the local hospital and her pressure, proteins etc are borderline for being admitted.
We are trying to avoid this as she was in for 2 days last week and ended up with a stomach bug, there was also very few staff on as they were off sick with said bug. Labour ward also full so women screaming the place down in labour in the antenatal ward!
