Got a 2kg smoked gammon joint yesterday. Heard that cooking it in Coca Cola is good and simple.
Any other simple but tasty alternatives for cooking it?

I cooked ours using cider last year.
Don't forget to get the outside properly crispy. lick

Edit: I also always throw in a few cloves while cooking.

The coke thing does work fairly well. Having tried it with both diet and normal coke, it definitely needs the normal (full fat) version for the full taste effect.

Cherry Coke sounds good!
That reminded me that Tesco sell a fiery cola. Wonder if the fieriness will transfer into the ham?

Did mine in full-fat coke last year and also injected some into the ham with a meat syringe. Came out really well

I always soak it overnight in water, change the water, bring to the boil then discard that water as well to reduce the saltiness.

Then cook in a cider or apple juice plus a sliced onion, a few allspice berries, peppercorns & slices of root ginger.

Remove from cooking liquid, glaze with orange juice/red wide vinegar/dried ginger mix & put back in oven full blast until the fat is crispy.

Strain cooking liquid & thicken and/or reduce to use as gravy/sauce.

Lots of good suggestions, thank you.
I've just read if you reduce the cooking liquid if you use coke that it makes a great barbecue sauce.

The coke/ham thing works best with concentrate - either post-mix stuff if you've got access to it or from sodastream.

Another vote for coke, I've been doing it like that for years and it never fails to be a superb flavour. I always reduce a bit of coke down then mix it with mustard, sugar and breadcrumbs to put on as a crust for the final bake, that's always been a highly prized delicacy in our house.
