Since the Forum hasn't had any post since friday thought I would post this !
Yes that was me, the reason that I did'nt answer the forum to start with was that it was put up by my poxy brother in law who was in his chim two cars back and I knew if I had answered to it, I would have had to explain the whole story which would have been very long winded. Had just pulled into a garage coming back from goodwood to get fuel, pulled out back on the A26 and got into second or third when she died on me. Checked under the bonnet and found that the main HT lead on the coil was tracking so ended up phoning the AA, they turned up and checked the lead but no prob so took the dizzy cap off and found that rotor arm had exploded !
Because it was 9.30 in the evening no chance of getting a new one so they had to get a low loader out to us, turned up at 12.20 so did'nt get home till 1.30 in the morning. ( Since getting the Tiv the wife has become a petrolhead, loved goodwood and the smell of castor R, even with rain and breaking down she want's me to order tickets for goodwood in Sept )
Shot out on Sunday to a car place nearby they said they would have to order it, so tried in rochford and got one.
Got home put it in and started the car it fired straight away, however I could hear a clattering from the engine bay, looked in and saw the dizzy cap shaking from side to side.
It was the top bearing on the dizzy so have had to replace with a new dizzy £112.00, put it in last Wednesday and the car is going like a dream again. I think the old one must have been on the way out since I got the car, because with the new one in she is a lot faster and responsive.
