Selling food thats out of date?
Discussion
Having been inspired by the Good food show at the NEC this weekend which was jolly good fun, and feeling inspired, I was wondering if there was some kind of ebay for food.
Almost of top of a google search for 'ebay for food' came this site :
http://www.foodbargains.co.uk/
Which appears to sell food at bargain prices however it all seems to be out of date.
example : Maxwell house coffee dated June 2011
http://www.foodbargains.co.uk/products/Maxwell_Hou...
The site is full of items like this.
Is it legal to sell out of date food in the UK? I am OK with eating certain things which are past there sell by date, and do regularly but wondered if anyone had any thoughts?

I think many dates are set as a result of colourings in the food that go off with time rather than the food itself, so it can look a bit odd but be fine otherwise, especially preserved and sealed foods.
Many years ago I and others drank a supply (many bottles worth) of brown 7 year out of date Ribena which tasted fine and did us no harm.
