I just had a packet of cheese and onion McCoys on a soft white roll with salted butter.

It was the best thing I've eaten in months.

Awesome, this is my meal when the other half is away, different meal every time just by opening a different bag :-)

The king of crisp sandwiches is:

Large soft white roll spread thinkly with full fat Philadepliia cream cheese and a whole bag of plain salted Walkers Max crinkle cut.

I has the 12 course tasting menu at Gauthier Soho the other month.

It was good but crisp sandwiches are better.

Walkers cheese and onion + salad cream, put on bread = beautiful meal.

have a feeling Red Sky cheese and bacon crisps would be beautiful on a sandwich

Excellent! I 'm glad culinary classics like the crisp sandwich are still enjoyed today. Yes it's got to be soft white bread.

Not wanting to take the thread off track, but does anybody else enjoy a chip butty? It used to be a staple when I was at school. We used to nip to the local chippy at lunch time and enjoy soft white roll filled with chips, lots of ketchup and salt. Had one a few years back when I arrived late at a works canteen. They had pretty much run out of everything but had the right ingredients for a chip butty.

It's got to be white bread.... NikNaks are perfect crisps, but Wheat Crunchies or anything Salt and Vinegar... and salad cream (just not right without!)

YUM!

People think I'm mad when I mention crisp sandwiches though, glad it's not just me that likes them!

What a great idea. I`m gonna order some of these from the SoupDragon in the works canteen tomorrow. Stupid cow will probly struggle with the recipe. Cheese and onion sounds good.

Mmmmmm, crisp butties, a fantabulous eat. Any make & flavour crisps will do it.

i'm also partial to a banana butty.

Great aren't they! Try pressing down the white bread between two chopping boards to make it flatter. I don't know why but it makes it better. Also, if you crunch the crisps up in the bag and pour the shattered pieces on to the bread it also improves it somehow.

Mmm, soft white bread, butter, a little marmite, sprinkle of cheddar and some ready salted crisps (or kettle chips). Absolute heaven. Even better then marmite is when we have some green chutney knocking about at home (coriander and chillis).

Am also partial to a chip butty, though again I prefer white bread rather then a roll as I find the bread to chip ratio to uneven with a roll.

Never had one - think I might have to try. Am a fan of Philly cream cheese that someone mentioned - but what crispage to add to it.....? Plus is it on a roll or white bread?

I love a pack of ready salted hula hoops lined up next to each other on buttered white bread, compress the bread together so that the holes fill with bread and then tear them off individually. Takes a while too so you enjoy each one smile
