What songs do you like playing yourself?
Discussion
I mean with your own instruments whatever they may be?
I tend to randomly pick up stuff from the radio, other sites, stuff folks like listening to. I am sure a lot of you will have been playing for yonks and writing your own stuff but us noobs have to start somewhere.
Look forward to seeing some of the suggestions.
Instrument: ukulele
Stuff Played: 3 chord wonders, pop songs generally.

I'm learning John Squire's guitar parts to I am the resurrection. So far I've been at it for two days & I've more or less got the front half of the song. The second half looks a sight harder. I reckon another week to learn it & a week more after that to get it fluid.
The it'll be a month chatting up the rest of the band to get it in the set. :-)

When I can be arsed to re-tune to CACGCE, I do love playing Bron-Yr-Aur by Zep.
Normal tuning? Need Your Love So Bad by Fleetwood Mac is a favourite, as is Romanza (Spanish classical piece by an unknown composer).
Oh, and when I get the settings just so on the amp (needs the analogue echo effect to be spot on), Shine On by Floyd.

I like playing murder ballads on my guitar, mostly.
Sorry if I am being a bit thick here Dave, but what are 'murder ballads'? Or am I missing a joke?
Unless of course it is akin to what I am currently doing: learning to sing some tunes and absolutely murdering them?

They are, in the main, ballads about murders.
Generally they're old folk songs but they can be more recent. My favourite would be Stagger Lee. They're salacious and embellished retellings of particularly gruesome murders from the days before newspapers were widespread.
I think that would go in my odd but groovy category!

I presume the Nick Cave/Kylie track Where the Wild Roses Grow is a recent example, as too would be Delilah, by Mr T Jones?

Indeed, "Where the wild roses grow" was actually on a Nick Cave album called "Murder Ballads".

For me, some of my favourite songs to play are "Where the slime live" and "God of Emptiness" by Morbid Angel, "Hammer Smashed Face" by Cannibal Corpse and "Miasma" by Black Dahlia Murder.
Trains by Porcupine Tree, and it seems I'm not the only one

I'm particularly enjoying Parisienne Walkways by Gary Moore at the minute, along with Cocaine by Clapton. Also, a guitar rendition of I Shot The Sheriff where I play the vocal line on the guitar. I syncopate it and make it funky, lots of palm muting and a wah-wah pedal (Vox V845). I use lots of dynamics in my playing so I can make a wah sound pretty cool. Sounds good on my Dad's tele (not a Fender sadly).
On top of that, I enjoy jamming over blues backing tracks, as well as playing generic stuff like Sweet Child 'O Mine, Oasis, Enter Sandman etc.

I play different music depending what I'm doing. Like now I'm listening to a Beatles/George Harrison playlist, if I'm cleaning I'll be listening to rock such as Crazy train, Speedking, Warhead and in the car I like to listen to Stereophonics, The Jam and Led Zep!

Um...thank you for sharing that Bit of a freak eh?
but what I meant was if you have, say, a guitar what tunes do you like playing on the guitar? Stuff you wrote yourself, pop ditties, classical pieces etc.HTH
