Planet X Pro carbon
Discussion
I'm looking at one of these with either a Rival or Red build: http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/bikes/q/drop_bar_r...
But I've got 2 questions for the PH fountain of knowledge:
- I don't need the bike for a few months, am I likely to get a better deal / new components if I wait till Jan/Feb?
- Is the Red groupset worth an extra £300 for a saving of <500g?

I ran Red a few seasons ago & really liked it, the upshifts are a bit clunky if yr pressing on the pedals, climbing out of the saddle for instance.
Is it worth £300 more than Rival? That's up to you, but I think Red looks better. I doubt it will be a "full" Red groupset you'll get either. It will be rear mech & shifters & possibly a front mech. Usually PX spec cheaper brakes, chainsets & cassettes on their builds.
For my money I'd go for the Team Aluminium with the "semi" Red build...£999 (only fly in that ointment is you're into CAAD10 105 territory....mmmmm)

I did a "home build" based around a Planet X Nanolight High Modulus frame and a 105 groupset around February this year. I've been very happy with the frame.. it all went together perfectly with no problems, and has been 100% reliable since I put it together. Admittedly I've probably only done 500 miles max on it since then so wouldn't expect any problems, but I don't see anything that makes me think it won't last for ages
