cool I know diddly-squat about aero engines but it didn't seem to be running very smoothly. Project in progress ?

Apparently it has a 2 stage super-charger and they are sorting the fuelling out.
Every time they wheel it out to fire it up I stop work. Very distracting. And deafeningly loud.

Oooh, a nice, noisy, angry sounding engine, shame they don't make 'em like that anymore!

Clouds of smoke, deafening noise, lumpy running after start.

Ticks all the Yak boxes then.

There was a German company that tried putting a modern V8 on the front of a Yak 52, but I reckon that brute from the video would be more fun - C of G might need some tweaks though.

We could take the now-surplus Ivchenko radial from the 52 and stick it on the front of an Sbach - the factory is already on the case, I understand bounce

Don't know about a plane, but I reckon that engine needs to go in a chassis!

I believe they have the partially restored plane there as well, just unsure if the owner is finishing it off or mothballing it for a bit. These guys have turned out some fantastic work over the years. http://www.retrotec-ltd.co.uk/projects/
