Aston Hill - Worth a Trip ?

Evening all, I’m helping a mate christen his new Rockhopper on Sunday & want to ride some XC stuff within about an hour of St Albans. Is Aston Hill our best bet ? has anyone ridden there recently & is there anywhere else we should consider ?

Not unless you are into serious downhill. Lots of good places around, swinley (Bracknell) is a great place for XC.

Think that there is an XC circuit at Aston Hill but will be well slippy at this time of year and is a bit up and down. However, Swinley would be my choice, a lot more varied than Aston and not too far from St Albans, M25 allowing......

Woburn Sands just south of Milton Keynes is worth trying

Aston hill is a good shout. You can always explore the Chilterns afterwards

Epping Forest is only 25 mins from St Albans if you want something more leisurely and XC than Aston Hill. Depends what floats your boat......

Thanks for the replys, part of the rason for thinking of Aston Hill was it having marked out routes so we're not faffing about trying to find our way around. Swinley looks like it may be good though, will let you know were we end up.
