i made some pulled pork in the slow cooker last night

7 hrs on low in cola , then taken out and shredded and drained off then back in for 1.5 hrs with bbq sauce all over it

meat was spot on texture wise , but not much taste at all

Mustard > Dry Rub > Smoke it > mop sauce > finish cooking > more mop sauce, and BBQ sauce

If you want to slow cook it, do it after you've applied the flavour, otherwise, it's not that surprising it's a bit bland tbh.

IME you need more salt. Pork shoulders and bellies are big ol' bits of meat and as such need to be really well seasoned.

Gotcha. As said lots of salt (big old rocks too, none of this sieve-able stuff).

Also, try leaving it in cider vinegar overnight before cooking, dry it off, do the dry rub and mustard, keep the cider vinegar to make BBQ sauce with...

mustard makes it sticky.

salt & spices make it delicious.

the BBQ sauce really just adds a bit of moistness - tbh mine was perfectly good with sauce on the side.

At least a tablespoon.
