The air con belt has shreded on my Evo 2. Garage say £36 for belt + fitting which seems fair? Problem is they also say new pulley wheel required to which may cost a couple of hundred pounds They say that the pulley is running out of line and unless its replaced the other pulleys and belts will be damaged to. Can a air con compressor pulley be replaced and is this whole scenario likely or are they 'making work' do you think?

Hmmmm dunno. The aircon pulley isnt quite as straightforward as it first seems.
The reason is that theres a magnetic clutch attached to it which activates when you demand aircon.
It effectively freewheels until you push the button, then the magnetic clutch pulls in and drives the compressor. If i were you id have a look at it yourself and see if you find the "out of line" theyre talking about before you part with your cash.
Better to be safe than skint i always say.. HTH.

P.S. it's my Sons Evo 2, when I was his age I drove a Ford Anglia which failed it's first MOT with chassis rot. The seller had covered it in underseal when I bought it. Bard
