when supermarket recipes go bad
Discussion
I used to like Morrisons tiger bread. Then, about three months ago they did something to the recipe which has given it a rather unpleasant oily aftertaste, so now I hardly buy it.
Anybody know why they change perfectly good stuff, or noticed any other 'improvements' in supermarket goods of late?

Redtwin, McDs fries used to be cooked in beef tallow (sp) very bad for you, but taste the biz.
Loads of info on the net, just got to spend hours looking through it.
Next clostest thing i found, cook fries in beef dripping.

Oh sorry, the change was to make McDs a healthier option.
But now tasteless.
Yep, always the way when they try to 'healthify' a product. But now tasteless.
I used to love Chicken & Mushroom Pot Noodle, but they changed the recipe to reduce the salt content. Ironically, this means that if I have one I need to add salt to it.. probably more than they took out!
It's a Pot Noodle FFS!
Why would you anyone want to make it healthy? same goes for chips... they are SUPPOSED to be bad for you!johnnywgk said:

What is in their beef burgers then if they have deemed beef fat to be so bad?. Loads of info on the net, just got to spend hours looking through it.

Actually, don't want to know, McFlurries are the only thing I will have from there.
Tesco Cola used to be delicious, it was so good it was a credible alternative to proper Coca Cola. This was back when the Tesco coke came in the bright red cans. I bought a bottle a few weeks ago, expecting it to be just as good, despite having not had it for a couple of years. Good grief, it was awful. The taste has changed for the worse, it's now extremely bland tasting. Absolutely dreadful.
I wondered if maybe it was considered 'too good' by Coca Cola and they were forced to change it!

49% GDA sugar is doing well for a small pot of stuff, not to mention 36% GDA saturated fat!

Their hamburger has 14% GDA sat. fat so your mcflurrie has more than 2 1/2 hamburgers.

Coke (and most things) taste completely different from bottles, or cans. Coke tastes completely different from a plastic bottle than it does from a glass bottle - so they may not have actually changes the recipe?I wondered if maybe it was considered 'too good' by Coca Cola and they were forced to change it!

No, I can vouch for this - I used to love Tesco Cola and then they "improved" the flavour, or so they would have you believe. It was a shame as 12 cans was something ridiculous like £2!rfn said:

It has definitely changed! Though I take your point about the container for the drink making it taste different. That said, there is slightly more to the taste of Coke from bottles. The plastic bottles are 'new' Coke, made with high fructose corn syrup (IIRC). The coke in glass bottles is made with cane sugar, which adds to the price. Thats the way all Coke used to be be made.
