Well my allegdly indestructible Oxstars have developed a hole in the toe area after only a few months and I need a new pair of boots. Will likely drop in the dealer to have a moan on the weekend, but that aside what boots do you folks rate? I have wider than average feet, so indication of which boots are a narrow fitting would be a plus.
Help much appreciated,

Steve.

Alpinestars use narrow lasts, so are not good for wide feet. Any of the new styles of boots all seem to be built for people with small (for their given shoe size) feet. If you're not looking for anything flash, you should be OK with slightly older (& cheaper stock). If all else fails, I can recommend Daytona boots. They're not cheap, but whereas Alpinestars, Sidi, etc, will leave you with a smashed ankle in a big off, the daytona will let you walk away (from an ankle point of view). I have lots of friends who now cannot affored to not wear the daytonas - if they want to be able to keep walking...
I go for Sidi mate 199.00 lifetime waranty jus keep the code off the box squeak a bit but now a wipe ove wi mr sheen wax polish dunt sort an you can get add ons like chrome fronts n sliders etc an the robocop style external armour down the side IMHO meks emthe mutts nutts as far as bike boot go

I use Boy Skywalk Duratherm/Goretex-lined Leather Waterproof boots which have lasted 4 years of the worst weather and abuse and are only now looking a bit sorry for themselves. They're extremely comfortable and quick to put on/take off...trouble is the only place I know that sells them is 'De Leertent' in Amsterdam....must take a trip there and get a new pair this year...
My full kit list is at (it's a bit out of date now mind)....

I have had a pair of HDS Street since i first started my lessons and I use them daily to and from work in crappy scottish weather and they keep my feet dry and warm everytime.
I dont know how they are at protection but they have a reinforced plate on the front and round the ankles. I havent fell of either so gladdly cant testify to there hardyness but they are in good nick still after 7 months of hard daily use.
I would recoment these to anyone, i have had no probs with them atall.
Not sure about a supplier but im sure a quick google will find them.

Tony does the division pay for your gear mate?
The Traffic Units does.
Most of the gear that we used to get issued with was em....tat. Now we get a good choice and if you ask the right people and give the right answers you can get some top class stuff.
(Only used on the Job bike!) honestly

I wear Gaerne boots, £140. Im v chuffed with them.
The boots that all the mags seem to rate, and that id really like to buy next, are AlpineStars SuperTech boots. £225 but theyre the dogs danglies.
I've got the Alpines. They have a sort of inner boot and are as comfy as carpet slippers. t 39, these things matter.
Pistonheads, comfort matters

I ALMOST bought some SuperTechs at the Beaulieu bike show over the weekend - show prices; £189 instead of £230. I found some that fitted in the right colour and i really was very impressed by them - offered far more protection than my current boots (and highlighted that my current boots are a bit big!) but unfortunately i had to replace a tyre over the weekend too so couldnt afford both.
I think ill still end up getting some though, when i can afford it!
