May go down next week but working tomorrow (well today now!).
Which lens?
If it's your first time the best I've found (and I've only been 4 times) is ISO on either 200/400, AV mode and an f stop of between f2.8 and f4. On my lens (70-200f2.8 L non-IS) the f4 definitely produces better images.
Remember as well you don't get a lot of warning of approaching aircraft most of the time so be prepared.
Another good tip, make sure you have a lot of warm clothing and hot drinks this time of year. Even during the summer when I popped down I had normal walking pants, waterproofs and hat, it went very cold and windy one day and I was like an ice cube to the point I couldn't feel what I was doing when using the camera.
The Bwlch is a good place to start at as the planes pass very close.

Ignore that, its completely irrelevant as its a different area to the loop. The loop falls under LFA7 but that time table is for a small part in LFA7 called LFA7T. Never been before so will be looking to try out my new lens.
Bear in mind not a lot is flying at the moment due to the Red arrows accident. Hawks both T1 & T2 have been grounded along with Tucanos and the flying ban has only just been lifted on the GR4.
Take lots of warm clothing as the loop has its own micro climate. It can go from being bathed in sunshine to hammering it down with rain in within minutes.
Probably the best location and easiest to find would be Cad West althought the low sun at this time of the year can affect the height of the passes or the Bwlch, these both give excellent warning to approaching aircraft.
I shoot on shutter priority and try to maintain a shutter speed of between 1/640-1/1000th for jets and go down to 1/100th for Hercules and things with props.
