A good LBS is worth keeping

After much phaffing, realising I couldn't afford a new bike, I decided to refresh my 2006 Yeti 575. So, I bought a few new parts, stripped it, and took to the LBS from which I bought it to be sent for respraying. In the course of stripping the bearings they found the frame was cracked, just above the BB. Arse.
Now, I bought this bike from them in late '06, second hand, as an ex-demo. I knew at the time that a lifetime warranty wasn't available - I wasn't the first owner, and it had been, ahem, used - but had always been a customer since they opened in late '05, and knew most of the staff there. Which is why they were happy to help chat with the Yeti importer and secure me a new bike with a substantial discount. The importer had already made a good offer for just a new frame, but I wanted a bike...
I'm not going to disclose the details, but we're all happy. I've got a 2012 Yeti ASR-5 at a price I can afford, the importer shifts another unit, and the LBS keeps a happy customer, who tells others how well they've been looked after.
Even if you don't use them all the time, its definitely worth making, and staying, friends with a good LBS.

What's the point in telling everyone how good your LBS is if you're not going to disclose details? You can keep the financial side to yourself obviously, but if the LBS is worthy of praise then surely it won't hurt to name them, I'm sure they'd be happy with the free publicity.Antony Moxey said:

That's a fair point, I had purposely left out who as I didn't think it would be of much interest to people on here and would only generate the "Oh great, thanks, that's very useful to me" sort of sarcasm. (On PH? Really??) But since you asked, its City Bike Depot on Kent Street, Sydney. If you're ever passing, pop in and say hello to Hugh, Damo, Adam and the rest - they're a great bunch.PomBstard said:
