Hi all,

I'm in a bit of a quandry. I have a date for Saturday night and we are meeting up in Piccadilly. My problem is that it's been so long since I had to do a 'datey' evening that I have lost track of places. I am aiming for relaxed/friendly/smart pubby type/bar initially, with perhaps a bit of food too. She is quite a bit younger than me but I don't want to just end up at a loud bar that we can't actually have a conversation in. If she wants to have a bit of a boogy afterwards, we will be heading for The X but it would be nice to find a place that you can settle into for the evening if required.

My most recent venture was to The Langley (now Foundation?) in Langley Street and that sort of hits the mark but I was looking for somewhere in a similar vein but less 'clubby' if you see what I mean?

Any suggestions greatefully received!

If you also like a great glass of wine with your food, try Terroirs http://terroirswinebar.com/

Highly recommended (but you'll need to book).

For Marylebone there is the bar underneath the Landmark hotel. I forget the name, but it is very classy and probably exudes the right image you're after (just don't gawp at the gorgeous waitresses, ahem).
