Hi

I have one of these:

...and as I cannot for the life of me find anywhere to drive it offroad, I am re-building it for circuit / track days / racing with slicks and a new cbr1000 engine.

Where, if anywhere, can I practice / race it?

it looks awesome whatever it is?

It might fit into an autograss category but i cant think of any circuit championship which would allow it. Not sure what track days are like for unusual stuff, its usually down to the organiser, if the car is not road legal it normally has to be scrutineered from an MSA championship (to ensure that nothing dangerous ends up on track)

haynes test track is pretty much open to all comers, you will have to book it as a private client and get some mates along to cover the costs (£1000 or so) but they only have a db regulation, not type of car.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

It is awesome - mind blowingly awesome and pretty easy to drive (very light and excellent feedback). Every corner, even on fast circuit corners like paddock hill bend at brands is taken on the lock. It under steers like mad because you have to turn on the gas - get it drifting. I have an Ultima GTR and I am nervous of driving it like this, at the limit, because of the costs involved in an 'off', but this thing you just throw at corners and power your way out - the most fun I have ever had on four wheels, by a long long way. It is also extremely quick. 200bhp in 300ish kgs.

They are BIG in Spain with a few local and national off road, dual, and fully tar circuit series. I am surprised that it has not taken off here...

I just want to be able to use it!

Sounds like quick fun!

Try a kart circuit.

Teeside Autodrome is a kart track that you can hire for a couple of hundred quid for car testing by yourself or with a couple of cars no where near each other. It's got to be a fairly big outdoors track though!

happy hunting.

My mate used to race a Honda Pilot in a offroad championship about 20 years ago not seen one for as i say 20years but i,m sure if you look at grass track type events you might find a spot.I can't see any trackday organiser allowing you in with it.My mates pilot had a cr500 engine and as you say mental fun

this may give you an idea or two.......
