Intrested to see what all ya cars do..
always looked upon 0-60 times as slighty irrelevant in 'real world' driving, maybe 1/4 mile is to but its a good indication of a cars performance..
Would like to see some cerbera/porsche times but all replies welcome, listing any mods etc done ?

My last car was a mitsu gto 1992 , uprated to 400bhp (evc boost controller, hks filter, exhaust)

1/4 came up in 13.31 or 13.11 (cant remember correctly !!) , grey matters dying of now

cheers

wayne.

Steve Heath's book on Griffs and chimaeras shows 13.3 for a 4L chimaera and 12.8 for a 5L Griff.

The figures for the Tamora, Cerbera and Tuscan must be considerably lower.

12.837 for my std Tuscan on a cold day at Santa Pod that includes a rather poor reaction time of 1.124. terminal speed was 112.37mph.

Not bad I thought.

I'm sure some of these figures are questionable, but there's a whole host of 1/4 mile (and 0-60) times at www.syclone.freeserve.co.uk/rivals_cars.htm

Never have the pleasure of doing proper timed 1/4 miles or track days yet but 2 of my mates run their cars at GTI international:

Standard mk2 8v Golf GTI 200K miles - 16.75

mk2 16v turbod Golf GTI with boot full of beer and camping gear - 15.15

The reaction time is not included in the 1/4 mile time! However, had you been trying to race someone else down the strip, you would have lost for sure . 12.8 is a great time for a cold day I'd say!

Why did you stop the list there? You missed the most important one, fastest 4.0 litre 13.8. A V8S if memory serves ...

The conditions were pretty poor, with a strong crosswind and sand and straw blowing across the start line, so I wouldn't be surprised if somebody beat these at a proper track.

While we're on the subject does anybody know the 'official' 1/4 mile time for my TVR S1. Chap at work has just bought a Porsche 924 Turbo which has a similar 0-60 time of 7 seconds but I'd like to know which car would win in a real race......

Sounds like a bloody good excuse to go to a 'Run what you Brung' day to me
IIRC my brother's old Mini (998cc) did a 21.7 standing quarter at the mini showdown a couple of years back - give you Lada a run for it's money hey Kevinday?

The company VW Transporter van would surely be the king though? Judge your speed by how wide the crack becomes on the windscreen...

Damn, you'll have beaten me by the time I've had a puff, leant out the window to gawp and whistle at some breasts, and nipped in the offy to get a copy of the sun. Still least I'll be sorted fer fags at the end from shady joe and his 'mate'

I saw an Ultima do 11.25 Termination speed of 124mph on a cold Santa Pod run-what-u-brung day last year. The other two Ultimas there only managed mid 12's.
