Small itchy sore spots on hands and feet

My wife has mentioned in the last 2 or 3 days about some small spots she has. I dismissed it in the usual husband way but now I have them too.
They are like little spots / humps as if I have a small splinter, and if touched, feel simular too. If scratched, they itch like hell. I now have approx 10 on my hands and a couple on my foot. They have doubled in quantity during the day but looking again, some seem to have gone or eased off. I do have a little spot on my lip which may or may not be linked
Any ideas?

I get these a lot, I spend a lot of time in contact with the great unwashed, so I got some of that antibacterial hand gel cleaner stuff, seems to do the trick.

Hand Foot and Mouth Disease, my 4 year old had it a few weeks ago.

You get spots on your hand, feet and in your mouth (like ulcers) Strangley enough.
