I picked all the remaining apples off our tree yesterday before they all fall or go bad.

So now I've got a load of apples and don't know what to do with them all.

I've cut some of them into rings and am drying them to make apple crisps as snacks.

Thought about apple jelly/sauce but there's only so much of that we will eat.

I could wrap them all up individually and see if they keep in the garage but I'm not that confident.

Any suggestions on other ways to preserve/store/use apples?

I made a nice apple, date and sultana chutney, for xmas gifts for my father to give away. Dead easy and will keep for a couple of years if done properly. I had a similar quandry as we were given a load of apples from a friends tree.

I'm liking the idea of a chutney. Something to go with spicy pork dishes or a curry, maybe?

Don't think we've got enough for cider and I wouldn't know where to start with that.

Get a load of diced pork and slice the apples up with them into a really nice pie filling with a bit of wholegrain mustard.

Buy cheap pork chops and stick in a cast iron pot on a low heat covered with apples for 5 hours.

You will get tender sweet meat out at the end of it, quite delicious.

Zider would be my choice, but you need a lot.
Fallers are fine, a few bruises/grubs/nasties will do no harm - the alcohol does for them. wink
