Great weekend on the bike - did you beat it for enjoyment?

Bloody marvelous weekend, managed to hive off to Devon with one of my riding buddies.

Stayed at Dawlish and both days did the following route :-

Over Haldon moor, drop down to Chudleigh, up the Teign valley, then left upto Moretonhampstead (6 mile climb), drop down the A361 to Bovey (held up by cars), along the valley to Chudleigh and over Haldon moor again.

About 1100m of climbing, fantastic views from the two moors, sparkling sunshine, stunning scenery/wildlife just awesome.

Not been out on my road bike all summer (and only made it out mountain biking twice)...shocking! Determined to get fit over the winter (sounds odd but I find it easier to make time to ride over the winter...always something else to do in the summer) so dusted the roadie off and asked my two riding "mates" to be kind to me.

45 miles non stop was not my idea of "easing gently back into it" but what a great day for a ride and I feel most righteous this morning! Bikeray III charged and ready for some evening shenanigans this week! Good to be back in the saddle.

Went out for a spin yesterday afternoon, fab weather. Had to pinch myself to remind me that it is November!

Had a quick spin around Cwmcarn on Saturday morning, 'not freezing' which is about as good as it gets this time of year, no rain but the ground was soaking, made for some massive puddles to splash through and changable trail conditions. Most importantly I think I've finally 'clicked' with my new bike so I was made up.

I know that particular area very, very well, its one of my staple routes and a fringe benefit of living in the locality! The stretch from Morton - Bovey in particular is great fun as you can indeed keep pace with the cars and on occasion find yourself held up by them as you race down the valley. The climbs up and over Haldon whilst a bit steep in places - depending on the route you take - are more than made up for by the following descents. Good to hear about someone else on here enjoying it.

I had a fantastic weekend riding. Myself and 6 mates from all over met in Betws-Y-Coed. Saturday was spent at Coed-Y-Brenin doing The Beast and yesterday was spent at the Marin Trail. Both days were great; some challenging and exciting riding and great weather. I can’t decide which route I preferred but thing CYB was marginally better. Now I am enthused, I am preparing for a weekend in the Peak sometime soon. Any suggestions anybody?

I had a nice ride too. A big loop from London out to Henley and back, about 75 miles all in, was billed as a training ride but the pace was fairly relaxed sadly.

I now hold my first and probably last 'king of the mountain' record for a hill near Henley. Can't get near any of my
Local ones sadly lol!!

I was out on Sunday despite having tendonitis in my shin. It was a great 45-mile ride in the sunshine but I really should have stayed in, I'm paying the price now

Planned to head over to the City early to pick up some bits from the bike shop then bomb about for the rest of the morning, running errands on 2 wheels.

Popped a spoke on the way and ended up waiting for the bike shop to fix it for 2 hours thus scuppering my plans.

Did get to sit in a posh cafe eating brekkie with a pretty girl though.
