Childrens Karting Helmets
Discussion
My son (7) has just started karting - and I'm after a helmet that doesn't cost a fortune, given that he is growing at an alarming rate - any ideas? Plenty of Bell, Arai but they're £400+....which seems a little excessive?
He has a 55cm head! Which is actually quite big for a nipper, I think?

From Jan 1 2010, all cadets had to use a CMR helmet but like all helmets they range in price from affordable to stratospheric... http://www.kartingdirect.co.uk/product.php/1827/1

Thats very helpful - thanks.
Are these Koden/Ducchini helmets any good - anyone had one?
Not sure whether to go cheap to start with or pay, effectively, double for a Bell/Arai.
i have seen them around at circuits a fair bit, obviously cant say what they are like in a crash though but before someone pipes up with the "if you have £10 head buy a £10 helmet" whcih most peopel forget was a sales pitch from Bell, they have all met the necessary standard. most exceed it, some by a significant margin. so you are paying extra for any advances on the particular standard that as much as things like fit, comfort, weight, quality of visor (and mechanism) and of course the name.
Great quality, great value helmets to SNELL motorsport standards. No idea if the karting helmet regs and rules are different, but would guess helmets to snellsa2005/2010 must surpass them safetywise?

I've had mine a year now, often get other racers/scruiteneers commenting on what good value and quality it is. I've used my fathers arai and bell on occasion and feel as safe in this as i do in them. I had great service with the guy running it too so have no qualms recommending them.
