As kids my brothers and I would open the tin grab a (few) handfulls of sweets then replace the lid and seal it up with fresh cellotape!

Asda can go fk themselves. Have just returned from being refused alcohol as I didn't look old enough AND accused of wearing fake wedding rings as my husband was clearly my older brother buying alcohol for me.

I know it's Swindon, but seriously, I wouldn't be screwing my brother.

Fair enough they have a challenge policy, but perhaps training their staff (or even giving them an eye test) to work out someones age might not be a bad plan.

Completely irrelevant to this thread. But I wouldn't shop there now if I was paid. Hateful place.

Only my husband had ID on him - I was sans handbag.

She asked if I was over 25, date of birth (both given without thinking and having to make anything up) to be followed by ¨I don't believe you¨

Fine. Whatever. Just get your eyes tested.

FFS, you can't even complement a woman for looking young without getting the mental in return.

Which was great, until your parents stopped buying them because they thought they were poor value for money because the tin was always half-empty wink

I worked in off licences for over twenty years. Under age drinkers were easy to spot.
The other give away is what they buy. And reading body language helps

You sound normal and with a full compliment of sandwiches.

Power tripping idiots. It was a bottle of red and one of white - plus a Magner's rhubarb and apple (looks quite nice tbh!) and food.

It wasn't even me buying it - my husband was paying AND had ID.

(I'm still mad..)

You look younger than you are, so be happy! And carry some ID from now on. Problem solved smile

It would have been a lot better if the woman had been slightly less...chavvy and nasty. She could have been polite (the main cause of my irked state) And ID will be carried once it returns from being changed by the relevant bodies.

It's just the staff that get me. They are so...awful.

Hang on, it was my husband paying - so does that mean if I had a child with me, I couldn't purchase anything as the child was under 18?!

(still mad...)

They are definitely much smaller than they used to be. Recently bought some roses and celebrations and they were only just over half full. Had to convince the misses I hadn't been eating them!
