Bought a Toshiba e800 and TomTom navigator software. I can't express how impressed I am, especially having installed a free add on that alerts you to speed scameras :-)

Anyhow, I'm looking to wire it in in a permanent fashion. I have no problem doing the wiring, but am at a bit of a loss as to how to best mount the cradle (rather than have it obscuring the windscreen). Also I don't want to do anything that can't easily be reversed when I come to sell the car (holes in the dash, etc).

Has anybody done this with good results?

Phil.

ooo nice. I've got a 740 with tomtom for same purpose. Does tomtom make use of the 640x480 screen ?

are you gonna mount in horizontal or vertical ?

was just thinking that horizontal mounting would be better for watching movies, etc if you are gonna do that..

I take it the 800 like the 740 has a USB host port ? Do you know you can download drivers to support a usb HD ? I got myself a 20gig 2nd hand 2.5 inch drive from ebay for 20 quid, and a slim aluminium usb case for a tenner, and can plug this into the 740 and have accress to the 20 gig HD... could be worth doing something like that ?

As for mounting, mine is on my mundaeo at the moment, and I wouldn't recommend my mounting technique as it looks hellish.

Doesn't make use of the VGA screen. I e-mailed TomTom asking if an update will be forthcoming. They e-mailed back to say that the e800 is supported! Useful - NOT!

You can buy a USB sleeve for about 25ukp I believe. I would like to mount it vertically, I feel the nav software (which will be my main use) is more usable that way.
