Why is it, as soon as the weather starts to change, it’s a dark and wet, that people insist on driving with fog lights on? Do they not understand that they are dazzling other road users?

Highway Code

'Use fog lights when visibility is seriously reduced’
This generally means when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 ft). You MUST NOT use fog lights at other times'.

Think it’s so inconsiderate to others.

Rant over.

Because D###s think they are driving lights and cool

And by same token the number of cars you see with no lights on who, I assume, must think their lights are on just because speedo lights up

Weird

S2Red you have a point - I noted a number of cars with no lights on this morning.... crazy.

Especially cars in resale grey or daren'tbe different silver - the ones which blend into the morning sky and road and therefore need them most.

Fecking EU made us have foglights. For the 2 days in a year that you actually need them in this country, I'd personally like to see them banned.

I'm noticing even more cars than usual with fog lights on. The strange thing is, some of the drivers are elderly or slightly younger. It's not just your stereotypical "yoof" doing it!

I also wonder if people are seeing more cars with DRL's in the fog light position and are copying that?

DRL's i think have a lot to do with it

Boys in Blue must have fun arguing whether fogs or DRL's

or more likely not bothering

Never ever been dazzled by front fog lights ???? and I have been driving for almost 40 years.
Yes, they should only be on when visibility is poor/foggy. Only had them on once to get home when my dipped lights failed, hopless things could barely see 15-20 feet in front.

If you are being dazzled by on-coming vehicles it's most likely badly aligned head light, dipped or main beam.

Me neither, never been dazzled by front fog lights, certainly not a danger. They just look like a t1t!

However, try following someone at night with their rear fog light on, now that's very distracting and could be dangerous!!

Couple of quick points:

1. Got new Passat and everyone keeps telling me my fog lights are on, they aren't it's dumb driving lights.

2. Will people with their very ugly "daytime driving lights" please remember that when these are on your rear lights are not, the amount of muppets I see in the early dark mornings using their driving lights and no rear lights, take note!

Rant over, thanks for reading.
