Tuscan Tyres, Best?

I bought a 2nd hand Tuscan 2 weeks ago. The rear tyres a fine (nearly new) but thefronts have only got about 1000miles left in them.

The back are Eagle F1s, the fronts are Bridgestone.

Before I go and get some eagles for the front (£160 plus VAT each, not bad I think!), can anyone recomended something better?

I much prefer the F1s to the S02s that were on my car before.

I like TOYO,s but i wouldnt start mixing tyres on the car as they dont all grip the same.

never quite got the argument for not mixing front and rears to be honest....

side to side definately don't mix.

no doubt having a set of say toyos on the back and SO2s on the front will be different from SO2s all way round, but don't see how this equates to an automatic negative.. it has as much of a chance as being a better balance as a worse one.

I used to run harder tyres on the back of the 300zx on purpose.. last longer, and far more fun in the dry with the lower grip for example.

would doubt whether any but the 'track day stars' would notice any day to day difference between a front/rear mix of good tyres (like SO2/toyos) which they wouldn't immediately get used to.

I can see what your saying powerlord,i dont really know enough about tyres to comment that much,im just going by what a couple of guys in the tyre trade told me,and as regards TVR coming out off the factory with different tyes i would say they are on there cos thats what happend to lying about at the time!!!!!

They have switched to Goodyear now as standard fit.

like the oil, I think TVR's "endorsement" is more about the deal than the overwhelming technical merits of the component. imho, of course.

Must agree with WHATEVER..... When it comes consumables like this, its always more about business than suitability. Found that continentals work just as good or even better than Toyos.

I much prefer the SO2s, a better profile to begin with, the latest standard issue make the wheels look like 16"s. You would really struggle to get SO2s now from what I understand.

I have toyo's at the moment and recon they are okay but a mate has just tried some S.O ZERO'S (BRIDGESTONE) and he will not stop going on about them, worth a try perhaps?

It looks like I will be going with the Eagle F1s, Oops out comes the wallet again.

Any tips on tyres that help the Tuscan in the wet? (I live in Scotland so hyper-track-performance tyres aren't my main priority ....)

If you check the reviews the toyos get a good wet rating. they're not really track tyres.. I mean it's not like motorbikes where the track tyres last 1000 miles.
