Looking at going Feb/Mar, Will have digs sorted when I get there as I have a few friends there.
Who is good for flights from Manchester, prefer a more direct flight.
Whats the place like for mooching about, I dont really be wanna be hanging around the houses while my friends are at work, is it easy to hire a bike/cycle/taxi and scarper for the day?

we flew monarch a few years ago direct from gatwick i think, which took about 10hours. it was an awful flight - very cramped and full of pissed up nosiy scousers with their feral kids.
lots of places renting mopeds etc, taxi's and tuktuks are cheap too - just make sure they take you direct to where you want to go rather than on some scenic route via every gold, jewellery and carpet store they can find..
not much to do there apart from sit on the beach smoking fine indian charas, drinking lager and ordering cheese toasties from the beach huts
ingos night market is worth a visit but the anjuna day market is awful.
as for food i really enjoy curry so WAS looking forward to it but its so touristy over there all you get is junk, i ordered bombay alloo from one place and it came with a portion of chips on the side...
hopefully your friends who live over there can give you a more authentic experience but I struggled to find anywhere decent.
nice hash though!
