S Works fitting

So I have been riding a gorgeous Wilier Izoard (med 54.5) for the summer and after a fitting was satisfied it was all good. But, I now have this cheap Specialized Allez in 56cm and I am really enjoying it. The slightly longer top tube suits me I think? TBH I feel like this cheapo hack really shouldn't be doing a good job....but it feels right.

Anyone on here with a S-Works tarmac 56cm care to chime in and let me know roughly your fit as I am really struggling to understand what I want at the mo!

I'm struggling to see what you post is all about. How will someone else's description of their fit on a third bike help you with the two you have?

No need for that really is there. I have been offered a frame fairly cheap and as it is a 56 I thought I would put the question to people who may have/had one.

However I still can't see how someone else fits on a particular bike is going to help.

I've read somewhere that within quite large tolerances any frame size will do, because you can adjust the saddle and bars up/down & forward/backward and can be made to fit. The main difference in feel between two bikes that correctly fit you, will come from the geometry.

So, if the Allez feels good; them maybe for you the best thing would be keep to that geometry.

Yes, going to take a trip to a dealer and see how they feel, wouldn't have really wanted to change but the Allez geometry just might suit me better at the end of the day. It's a never-ending evolution and I learn new things everyday with the sport.

The medium Wilier XP is not 54.5 but 53cm, so you are comparing different sizes to start with, before you take into account different frame geometries.

Wilier (medium) effective top tube = 53.8
Wilier head tube = 14.5
Wilier seat tube angle = 74.5
Wilier stack = 54.8
Wilier reach = 38.6

Specialized Allez/ Tarmac (56cm) effective top tube = 56.5
Specialized head tube = 17.0
Specialized seat tube angle = 73.25
Specialized stack = 56.4
Specialized reach = 39.5

So this means the head tube is 2.5cm longer which will have you sitting much more upright on the Specialized. You will also be stretched out by about 4cm on the Specialized, as although the reach is similar, the slacker seat tube angle will put the saddle further away.

Your bars will be nearly 2cm higher on the Specialized. This obviously also depends on how many spacers you run under the stem on the Wilier.
