2011 Firework Thread

So not to clutter up the random pic thread,post your shots here

My first attempt at this and the heavens decided to open just before it all started.Shot from Gosport looking over to Portsmouth's Gunwharf Quays.
Camera 450D Lens 18-55 3.5-5.6.I was all over the place with my settings but i think if you try and get around a 5sec exposure you should get some nice trails and shape

Can you guys post some exposure details please? Im going out next weekend with a friend to a couple of displays, hoping to get something decent this year, but can't for the life of me remember any of the settings.

In terms of settings for fireworks I use:
ISO 100
Bulb exposure and a cable release
Mirror Lockup
F16
Shutter speed dependent on how many fireworks are going off, usually between 5 and 15 seconds.

Can't remember the exif. I shopped the curves and cropped and can't find it now either

These were taken lasty night at our village bonfire night which I just happen to be site organiser. All shot on Pentax K100D using the bog standard auto programme and mounted on a tripod. Didn't use any fancy programmes because I found that pressing the shutter before the firework went off meant the auto programme would automatically take about 2-5 second exposures. No need to fiddle around with buttons, just hold steady.

Shot on a £50 point and shoot using the firework mode, with fireworks in the back garden, it all shows .

I usualy go for something very similar, f8 mebe, just hold the shutter open as lon as I fancy.

Good work, mine too. Had to traipse around Legoland all day beforehand so took my most versatile lens (Nikkor 35mm f/2) and no tripod. Kept the exposure durations short and made a few double exposures with differential focus.

I'm guessing you were up on New Fancy View? We considered going up there but decided on going up to Speech House for the bonfire instead.

Yep, good old new fancy. My daughter can't be near smoke, due to a lung condition, so we always watch from afar
