British GT Race 2

Another exciting outing for the GTs at Castle Combe

Sunday's GT race was initially dominated by Nigel Greensall in the RSR Tuscan R. He led the race in dramatic fashion with a possie of cars on his tail for quite some time. The TVR started to eek out a small gap when the Jones Porsche crashed into the tyre wall necessitating a safety car period.

Once the safety car had done its job, racing resumed with Greensall still leading and the Mosler and Ultima in a great battle behind him. Tim Sugden followed in his 911.

Come the pit stops though and all changed. The TVR was out of the running and the battle became one between the Porsches of Cocker and Jordan. The Ultima was still in the mix with the Mosler until an intermittent problems slowed it up periodically.

Jordan was eight seconds behind the lead car but gradually gaining. He eventually caught Cocker and passed him but couldn't shake Cocker off.

With ten minutes to go huge rain clouds descended and with a sopping track and all the field out on slicks the red flags were brought out ending another exciting race.

In Cup class the Elise of Kershaw/Whight took first place having distanced themselves from the rest of the field. Scrutineering would be their undoing however with the car excluded after the race. Once again the Marcos did the business, taking the win in the place of the Elise. The Hindley/Sharpe 911 took second and the VX220 got another podium.

Anything to do with them being 2 class A drivers thus needing a 20 second stop ??

Great race. Enjoyed them all despite the rain.

Does anyone know why the Elise of Kershaw/Whight was eliminated after scrutineering?

I'm pretty sure they aren't classed like that, but it was a very slow stop that dropped them to 5th. The team didn't really seem to know quite what had made it so slow either.

On the other hand Nigel Greensall was mighty in the first stint and John(?) Coleman did extremely well to be on or near the lead pace in the second considering that he'd never raced a T400 before and that there were several minutes of rain-drenched laps before the flags came out!

V8, you are correct, the #40 TVR does not have any additional time penalties for their stops, it was just a slow stop.

Extremely frustrating. Dont suppose they could claim something must have fallen off?!

1kg? Perhaps they should fit a stereo for the next race, that should do it!

Yup.......plus the fact, as V8Archie says, Coleman had only had 3 laps in that car before he drove the race..

Considering the heavens opened and the cars were on slicks I thought he did b****y well to hold the car on the track and finish.

Mind you...that T400r was cornering as if it was glued to the track......awesome views from Camp corner.

You wouldnt have said that if you saw it at Quarry!
Although I did notice the back never slipped out when I had my camera pointed at it. Perhaps I could be a memebr of the team!
