Went last year at end of october for our anniversary. It was mild, not too cold and fairly expensive.

All worth it though and had a brilliant time!

Do it!

My outlaws visited Venice as part of an Air Cruise they did for their 35th Anniversary, some 15 years ago now.

It's going to depend to some extent on the weather. If you're lucky it'll be dry, crisp and fantastic.

Whatever happens, take your wellies for the acqua alta, and your walking shoes for the rest of the time.

it always floods - every year - it's part of the allure; it turns St Mark's into basically an Autumn/Winter fashion show.

I also meant to add, I've been three times; twice in high summer and once in the Autumn.

Autumn was far, far nicer - less crowds, the 'fashion show' mentioned above, less smelly canals, winter coats, etc...
