How many instruments do you play and for how long?

Well we have a lot of talented people on this website, I thought it'd be interesting to see how many multi-instrumentalists we have. I also thought it'd be interesting if we could put samples of our playing up.

I can play 3 instruments, although I only play two seriously anymore:

Keyboard/Piano - 4 years
Guitar - 2 years
Bass - 1 year

Not a very long and impressive list, however I do want to expand it and learn to play more stuff.

And a sample, albeit a st one from last year. Bit sloppy.

Guitar - 13 years
Drums - 10 years
Bass - 2 years

I've also mucked about on piano all my life, but haven't played it properly for about five years.

Drums - 12 years.
Tuned Percussion - 9 years.
Bass Guitar - 4 years, although haven't played it in about 3 months.
Piano - 4 years.

Drums and percussion are the serious ones, bass and piano are just for fun. I'll see what videos I have.

I play Alto and Tenor saxophone.(just 5 years for fun) I tried learning guitar but all that fancy, more than one note at a time was a bit much.

Guitar (my main focus) - 24 years
Bass - Just using the skills learnt playing the guitar really. I played bass in a band years ago
Drums - not massively experienced, but I'm ok-ish
Piano - I dabble, but struggle

French horn - 29 years. It's my job so my priority practice-wise.
Piano/keyboard - 25 years, although haven't played seriously for 16 years, so very rusty!
Guitar - 1 year, don't have time to practise regularly unfortunately. Getting better slowly.

Guitar: On and off for 12 years. I don't practice as such but just enjoy it and use it at parties and for recording purposes.

Bass: About 6 years. I just use it again for recording and jamming when needed.

Drums: Same as bass.

Piano/keyboards: About 5 years. I only use it for my recordings so I'm not polished in the slightest.

I play mandolin and harmona from tine to time but only when needed.

Saxophones - 16 years, I'm out gigging every weekend, everything from rock'n'roll and band venues to pubs/clubs, to pit work etc. Also teach it for my day job.

Clarinet - 6 years, reasonably ok, but I'm not a "clarinetist" by any stretch. I can play for shows and in orchestras though.

Flute - 8 years, not too bad. Again, I can get by for pit work and teaching, but I wouldn't consider myself a flautist.

Piano/keys - 12 years, got to grade 4 as a kid, stopped , wished I hadn't and started playing again a couple of years ago. I can comp, busk chords and play "in a band situation" fairly competently, but reading two staves of piano music isn't fluent yet.

That's about it... Can't play guitar to save my life

First picked up a guitar about 18 years ago. Still crap!

Wife plays flute (& piccolo), clarinet and saxophone to a high standard, plays bass guitar and keyboards passably and is most of the way to an OU music diploma en route to a degree in it.

Envious, me?

Double Bass & Bass Guitar, professionally for the last 25 years or so.... crap pianist, even though we have at least 2 in the house.

Specialist quest, smallest car you can get a double bass into.

XK8 Loan car, with fitted 3/4 double bass.

LOL!!! used to fit most of my kit (2 keyboards and flight racks/mixers) into my old Vauxhall Nova 1.2 merit!! seats down..... aahhhhh they were the days.

An old friend managed to be a pro double bass player with a full size bass and a Mk2 VW Polo. Back seats down, neck through the gap between the front seats, and headstock resting on the dashboard. Sideways visibility and use of nearside mirror, optional!

65 and counting.

I was fortunate that my father was a Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, and a Parson and my Mother was a Concert Pianist and a Head Teacher. My sister was also a Concert Pianist and achieved Gold Medals from the RCM in Piano and Trumpet and became a Head Teacher.

I was and am the miscreant black sheep.

But I did pick up knowledge on the way. It was a Hell of a household for Music. And Education.

We had two Grand Piano's side by side (Steinway and Challen), the old Rectories being plenty big enough to accommodate them. I remember sitting under the Pianos as my parents played duets together. Never forgot the sheer energy and enjoyment they got from this duetting. My childhood memories undoubtedly framed me as a man.

You could hardly not learn music in this household and I did despite my best efforts.

Still playing mainly guitar because the instrument is so rewarding and a lot lighter than a piano. And I can get 7 in my flat which would be a challenge with piano's.
