The Javan Rhino, Rhinoceros sondaicus annamiticus has been declared extinct in Vietnam.

This means that both this subspecies and the Javan Rhino in Mainland Asia is now extinct.

The last Javan Rhino's of the nominate species, Rhinoceros sondaicus sondaicus remain in the western jungles of the Indonesian Island of Java and number around 50 animals.

The last Vietnamese Javan Rhino was possibly shot by poachers for it's horn to be used in traditional Chinese medicine and although it was already effectively extinct being the last of it's subspecies it's still a very sad day.

This animal is extinct because of People through destruction of habitat and hunting to fuel unproven medical remedies, very sad.

Serious question...

Once they kill off a species, they no longer have the 'magic ingredient' for their medicine..

So when they find the medicine to be equally as useful/useless without this magic ingredient, do they not realise that it's utter nonsense?

Religion and faith causes far too many issues in this world, but then, so does science, just take a look at MMGW, how are we supposed to believe that!?

Humans disgust me so, and I simply can not understand how someone can be so stupid as to hunt something to extinction, I mean, at what point do they not realise that once it is gone, there is no more?

Please be careful changing peoples quotes as I never said that!

That is why my post said EFA which means Edited For Accuracy.

Sorry if I offended you, it is fairly standard on PH to do so though!?!/

Quite possibly, but they will make money by selling it to schmucks.

When one animal is extinct they will find some other way to make money; they don't plan ahead and certainly don't have our view of nature. They might say that they need money to feed their families (there not being much in the way of a benefits culture in Vietnam) and that if we want them to stop shooting things, we must send them money. And we probably would rolleyes
