So we are all poor.
Record unemployment
Families in fuel poverty
People Will die from the cold this winter
Spending billions of the green dream fraud
People are dieing because NICE will/can not pay for drugs to treat them
Cutting back in just about every sector of our lives except he amount of cash that we give to corrupt, useless, lazy third world countries.

FFS the amount of cash that has been pumped into Africa over the years, we could have bought the place and built an infrastructure.

Charity begins at home!

FFS. It should be cut by 50% whilst we sort ourselves out.

That is all.

Does anyone know the official reason for the increased spending (it had better be a good one)?

It's an absolute disgrace. At least Cameron can feel all warm and rosy.

Surely 'Overseas Aid' is just a euphemism for sweetening various defence and other 'top dollar' contracts in the respective countries to ensure they're awarded to the 'right' companies or alternatively it's to keep gB (little g as we're not really that 'G'reat any more) in favour with such ramshackle and piss-poorly run countries..... wink

Yes, there's a long tail behind any disaster or war wone in terms of spend. Haliburton built an emprise on it and I'm sure UK firms do too.

If they called it the bribery fund would people understand? The increase in budget may go to Libya or Egypt whose new government needs some arms and oh who sells a lot of arms? Us!!

This clearly isn't aid, so who are they trying to kid.
What I'd like evidence of is actual return on bribery investment.

And how much of that 20 billion/year will come back to us via the eurofighter or something similar? And it won't be 20 billion/year for long, it will exponentially rise over the next decade. Look at the Indian-Israeli defence relationship over the past 5-10 years and how much it's grown. Its something we should aspire to imo.

But how much of that would have been spent with us even without our "aid"?
