Guy in my street bought petrol at a local Shell garage, his bike(old Z1000ST Kawa)starting spluttering and missing a lot, considering his bike was fine before he filled up he took his tank off and drained it,the petrol was really cloudy. He then came over and told muggins here not to go there for petrol as the station may have been running their tanks low,it was too late i had just been!A few mile later i was just about thrown off the bike when it missed heavily as i was passing a few cars,i was just about thrown over the bars!It cleared itself then just kept doing it when i was accelerating so i took it right home and called the petrol station. They just told me to call Shell direct,i did and they said my details were a bit vague?Maybe because i dont have a petrol log notebook on my person for making detailed time/pump number/petrol amounts like everyone else?I can remember the pump i was at.Anyone been through this and what was the outcome?I haven't driven my bike since(its a VTR SP1)it's sat in the garage.Large Honda dealer bills are the last thing i need right now.Any help appreciated.

Just drain the tank and refill it. Before you re-connect the tank to the fuel pump, start the bike and let the fuel pump scavenge what it can from the fuel lines and get rid of all the shite through the injectors. Once the bike has stalled, i.e. used all the crap fuel, reconnect the tank, wait for the fuel pump to draw the fuel through to the pressure regulator (the clicking sound will stock after 5 or 6 seconds), then start the bike.

Make sure that when you are clearing the system, just have the bike on its side stand and let it tick over - with the occasional blip of course! - and it will eventually stall. Don't want to go over the bars again!
